Engagement portraits

I'm really pleased at the feedback I'm getting about my portraits.  I am "old school" in my approach to portrait lighting and mood.  Thanks to study of the masters and a recent seminar with Clay Blackburn, I'm refining my technique and creating a signature style.  Hope you all enjoy the results.

Photoshop creativity

I am constantly amazed at the images I can create in photoshop.  I took a shot I did with a model for a pregnancy shoot (done in the studio) and placed her in Antelope Canyon in Arizona.  Not a finished image, to be sure, but I am intriqued with the concept.

New portrait

Sheryl's portrait.  She was actually in her pj's and had no makeup on.  I was just trying out a new color checker and adjusting the lights.

Latest endorsement

"Just got the photo today! It's better than I thought! Can't wait to frame it and hang in our house. "

I'm honored.  It's so nice to hear people are pleased with my photography and the quality of my work.

I'm definately in an Ansel Adams mood today.  Rediscovering my old darkroom days and the joys of the "performance", as the master used to say. I'm also yearning to travel and do even more landscapes.  I'll post this to my website in case anyone wishes to purchase a print.

I love the flexibility and creativity allowed in Photoshop.  Images that suggest further development can be manipulated and enhanced to bring out the intended emotion felt when the shot was done.  We are not limited by just recording the real image but can let our immagination run free. Paulette (my model) was the essense of youth, beauty, and strength.  I tried to bring these feelings forward in my photo.

Serendipity

I reconnected with an old friend and model from my days in Vermont.  I am so glad we finally found each other again.  She was and is my muse.

It's official!

Well, I made it official today;  I registered Howard Search Photography as a business.  Yup, got my very own federal EIN and I'm registered with the state.  Still trying to figure out what Gloucester County wants but, as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.  Slowly adding to the studio equipment as funds allow and I'm coveting a new Canon 5D MkII camera.

My very favorite from Meghan & Steven's wedding

Sometimes you just feel the photo happening.  I was caught up in the music and joy of the moment and it all just flowed into my camera.

Photos I'm working on.

Wild mustangs, Corolla, NC

I shot these wild mustangs 2 years ago on Corolla Beach in North Carolina.  I loved how peaceful and connected to the sand and sea they appeared. It was if I was the intruder here and they definately were the natives.
